The 2011 C.L.A.S.S. Award Recipients Announced

Six high school seniors receive educational grants to attend a college of their choice.

Make A Difference Foundation, Inc (MADF), is proud to highlight the outstanding academic achievements of six high school seniors with the announcement of its 2011 Charlotte Lemons Annual Student Scholarship (C.L.A.S.S.) Award recipients.  Named after the late Charlotte Lemons, in honor of her unwavering devotion and commitment to public service, C.L.A.S.S. is a need based scholarship which awards $1,000 educational grants to graduating high school seniors throughout the states of Georgia and Florida.

The C.L.A.S.S. Award was established to give students in need of financial assistance the opportunity to further their education at a two-year or four-year college or technical institution. Its goal is to relieve some of the financial pressures students face while pursuing higher education.  The annual selection process begins in January and consists of a four page informational application; along with a one to two page typed essay on the topic “Making A Difference In My Community” where the student must identify a need in their neighborhood and describe a detailed plan to address that need.  To date, MADF has successfully awarded close to $40,000 in educational scholarships since the programs creation in 2004.

This year MADF is thrilled to honor, Ms. Tyauna Woods (Lakeland HS – Lakeland, FL) and Ms. LaDawnna Linnear (Statesboro HS – Statesboro, GA), along with four other seniors from Carver School of Health Sciences in Atlanta, GA., Ms. Krystal Lunsford, Mr. Myguel Roberson, Ms. Keiana Raven, and Ms. DeWanna Byrd.  These students will be officially recognized at the 2011 C.L.A.S.S. Awards and Benefit Dinner held on October 22, 2011 at the Westin Atlanta Airport Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia.  MADF applauds the efforts of not only this year’s recipients, but to each and every student who applied.  “Each year the selection process seems to get tougher and tougher”, states MADF Chairman Mr. Donovan R. Quary, Sr., “which is a growing testament to our students increasing commitment to excellence in and out of the classroom”.  MADF congratulates these young men and women on a job well done and best wishes for continued success in their future endeavors.
